Scrim and Osnaburg
Even though we spend
most of our time examining the face of wallcovering, this week we will
take a look at the back of some wallcoverings.
Terrapointe's NATURAL
EXPRESSIONS is a collection of TYPE I and TYPE II vinyl wallcovering.
Many of the patterns are backed with woven fabric and this backing has
the following important functions:
1) The woven-fabric
backing increases the tensile value of the material.
2) Since wallcovering
adhesives will not bond to PVC film, the cloth backing provides a surface
that will adhere.
So what is Scrim
and Osnaburg? Scrim is a durable plain-woven mixture
of cotton and polyester. Because of its light weight, it is the standard
backing for TYPE I wallcovering or light duty vinyl wallcovering. The
weave is 32 x 22 treads per square inch.
Osnaburg,used
for type II material, is heavier than Scrim and has a tread count
of 32 X 28 per sqare inch. TYPE II conotes a heavy duty vinyl wallcovering.
Now
that we've explored some backings, let's have a look at some features
from TERRAPOINTE NATURAL EXPRESSION.
